Dan Duchaine:

Dan was one of the most important guys in the first half of the book that took place in the early 80's and into the 90's. He was a major steroid junkie who started a huge business in the US. He ended up going to jail at least four different times for being caught selling or being in posession of illegal steroids, but no matter what he would always start back right where he left off. This is how he developed his well desereved nick-name: The Guru. He got juiced up on about double the amount of drugs that he recommened people. He developed a cystic kidney disease that was caught much too late, so there was no chance at stopping it. Now Dan had a reason to keep going. Why would he stop making loads and loads of money when he knew that he could possibly die at any time? Dan got many people in trouble by doing things that he clearly knew were wrong but he insisted on doing them anyway, mostly because he was completly hooked. Many other people realized that Dan was not a very good friend and mostly a jerk overall. All his life consisted of was selling steroids and sex. Dan died at the age of 46 leaving behind a not-so-good name for himself.

Lyle Alzado:

Lyle was a big time football players in his years. But before his football years he was a skinney, non-musular college kid. Alzado decided to start taking steroids to begin making a name for himself in the NFL. He finally retired, but didn't stay away for very long. He tried to rejoin the league but, he soon realized that he was not the only one using the juice, and he retired again. One day when he was out of town with his wife on their anniversary, he began to feel very weird. The doctors told him that he had developed a cancer and was not likly to live for very long. He contined to get weaker and weaker. While he was slowly dieing away he openly confessed to a Sports Illustarted news reporter about his major use of steroids. Lyle died at age 43, and was an eye opener to Americans all over the country that steroids should not be considered that greatest thing ever discovered.
